PURPOSE
of the Exhibition
Educating Faculty,
Empowering Students
This study explores methods for increasing intercultural empathy in university faculty. Educating faculty is a crucial first step to empowering Chinese and other international students.
Game-Based Learning
Research shows that games can effectively facilitate interaction, education, and communication (Gaydos 478). American professors could use simulation games as a tool to examine their familiar, native culture through the eyes of their Chinese students.
Expected Outcomes
By participating in the proposed game-based learning simulation, faculty should develop greater empathy for their multicultural cohorts. This empathy should ultimately inform the professors’ communication and instruction methods, allowing them to better support students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
